Used by the years, discolored by the sun and the bad weather, your garden furniture is gray? Before replacing it, try repainting it. Here are some tips to give him a second youth in a few brush strokes.
Subjected to Rude Evidence, garden furniture tends to be released over the years. But rather than separating it, give him a good facelift! Today there is a wide range of paintings that allow you to renovate and revamp almost all supports. Without undergoing most of them, they are designed to resist over time and offer increasingly extensive color pallets.
Which paint to choose to paint your garden furniture?
For wooden garden furniture
If you want to keep the raw aspect of the wood, opt for a matt or shiny varnish, colorless or slightly tinted. If you want color, choose a colorful or, more covering, a Special wood paint. Another option: paints for floors. Designed to resist trampling, but also extreme climatic conditions, they will support UV and repeated friction inflicted on garden armchairs.
Teak garden furniture, be careful! It is difficult to paint the oiled surfaces, even after sanding, because the material will find it difficult to join. If your garden furniture is in teak or exotic wood, therefore fatty, prefer a protective oil to protect and rekindle wood.

- To clean. For the material to hang, the support must be as clean and smooth as possible. Start by dusting and passing your garden furniture to acetone to degrease it well.
- Sand. Wood, resin or PVC, sand slightly with sandpaper for better adhesion of the product. If your furniture is made of wrought iron, scrape the surface using a small metal brush to eliminate the chipped paint and any traces of rust.
- Treat wooden furniture. Painting will resist better on a healthy support. To best protect your wooden furniture, especially if it stays outside all year round, it is best to apply protective treatment (anti-mousse, anti-champignons, etc.). In this case, count a week of drying before painting.
- To paint. Varnish or painting: always apply two layers, respecting the drying time between each. Then count at least 48 hours, while the paint dry to heart, before you can again enjoy your garden furniture.
