In summer, the skin is often put to the test. Despite the solar creams, it is sometimes not surprising to catch a sunburn. Discover all the advice of dermatologist Ludovic Rousseau to help you take care of your skin after the exhibition.
Exposure of the skin to the sun causes the appearance within skin cells of harmful free radicals and genetic mutations. Fortunately, skin cells have a DNA repair system. However, care should be taken not to exceed the skin repair capacities by not respecting the usual photoprotection advice. On the market, “after -sun” creams are found containing anti -rading substances (vitamins A, C, E, F, plant extracts …), supposed to reduce the damage caused by the sun on cells. These creams also contain anti -inflammatory substances in order to reduce inflammation. These creams also have a moisturizing and religious role for the skin, as does any moisturizing care. The first of the measures to be taken so after the sun is to “nourish” the skin which was attacked with this type of product. In addition, you must avoid attacking it even more during the toilet, using stripping soaps, too hot water …
The sunburn is a real burn of the skin by the sun. You should ideally have a sunburn because the burning and the genetic mutations it generates on skin cells are irreparable. However, skin cancer is, among other things, the result of a series of genetic mutations on skin cells. It is therefore important to avoid situations that can lead to a sunburn: exposure between 12 and 4 p.m. in summer, lack of clothing protection and application of solar cream of index greater than 30 … When the damage is made and the sunburn has appeared, it is first necessary to assess its gravity: does he touch a child, a weakened adult (sick, tired …) or an elderly person? Does it concern a large body area or simply a limited area? Is it accompanied by significant swelling of the skin? Fever, general discomfort? Under these conditions, you have to consult a doctor in an emergency in order to treat the sunshine adequately. If the sunburn affects an adult in good health, that it is limited on the surface and in intensity (simple redness)you must first avoid the sun until complete improvement in the skin state, and this for at least two reasons : First of all, this allows the skin to repair itself without having to face solar aggression again, and this reduces the risk of appearance of solar tasks. Then, the skin must be cooled by the means, for example, of wet linen and apply the moisturizer several times a day to help the skin renew its dead cells and recreate a skin barrier.
Tanning is a skin defense mechanism. It is therefore a coloring of the most superficial part of the skin. However, it is renewed and the superficial layers are gradually eliminated by the phenomenon of design. To slow down the disappearance of tanning, it is therefore necessary to limit this natural phenomenon of elimination of the surface layers of the skin. During and after the holidays, avoid activities that will accelerate the elimination of superficial cells: use of a horsehair glove, scrub products.
Hydrate your skin regularly by means of a moisturizerbecause this will strengthen the adhesion of superficial cells. Finally, do not try to sunbathe too quickly because this would generate significant damage in the layers of the skin and a more important renewal (we start to “peel”), hence a faster “clearing”. A progressive and slow tan will more respect your skin and will last longer.
