After a significant energy bill, I wanted to understand the origin of these expenses. This free tool allowed me to analyze my consumption and consider the best solutions to reduce it. Anyone can save money.
To understand what impacted my bill, I signed up for a free online platform. The rule is simple: provide my address, my family situation and answer a series of questions about my daily habits. In a few minutes, a detailed assessment of my energy consumption was generated.
I currently live with my daughter and my spouse in an apartment of 66 m² in the Paris suburbs, with a displayed DPE C. On the household appliances, we use an fridge-freezer, an electric oven, an electric baking sheet, a microwave, a dishwasher, a washing machine and a dryer. So this is the information requested by the application before establishing my consumption diagnosis. Assessment: I am told a consumption of 1455 euros per year and 739 euros in possible savings.
What immediately struck me, the heating represented a considerable part of my expenses. It is not surprising, but I thought that the adjustments, already undertaken, like reducing the temperature by one degree, could have compensated. In short, a priori not. Heating to date now represents 45% of my energy consumption and the application recommended other gestures to reduce this expense. For example, install connected thermostats for 98 euros in savings per year or even put an insulating film on my windows for 20 euros in savings per year. Another important expenditure among these 1455 euros: hot water. This alone represents 32% of my energy consumption. For 131 euros in savings per year, the platform strongly advises me to reduce the time spent in the shower and for 129 euros in savings per year, to install an ecological shower head.
The other advantage of this app is that it is not limited to a simple punctual analysis. It also offers continuous monitoring, with regular reminders of good practices to adopt and updates on the savings made. Each week, notifications informs me of the actions to be implemented to improve my consumption. Finally, if we want to go further in improving the energy efficiency of our accommodation, it directs towards professionals and solutions adapted to our situation. Whether to install a heat pump, solar panels or improve insulation, its suggestions make it possible to plan work in a logic of energy profitability. The app in question? Watt Watchers.
You will understand, in addition to having managed to identify the most energy -consuming positions of my home, it especially allowed me to set up concrete solutions to reduce my expenses. Practical, right?
