After years of doing tours, shows and TV shows around the world, the thirty-year-old wanted something else. And he agreed to join the faculty of the Star Academy with the aim of transmitting knowledge, a bit like “a big brother”. This week, he arrived at the Château de Dammarie-les-Lys to try to get this season’s 17 academicians to dance.
On this occasion, Jonathan Jenvrin spoke directly to our colleagues at Paris Match. Spotted at a very young age by another figure in the program and in dance, Kamel Ouali, the young man remained very close. “I did a dance course in Lyon with Kamel Ouali, he saw me and said: ‘Where are your parents?’ He went to see them to tell them that he was taking me to Paris. I followed him to Paris and took part in ‘Sun King’, and that’s where it all started.”he explained.

A true mentor for Jonathan Jenvrin, Kamel Ouali continues to be an attentive ear for his little protégé: “I called Kamel after accepting (to become a professor at the castle, editor’s note). He said to me: ‘You should have called me before.’ He was really happy for me.”. And the main person concerned concedes: “It was he who gave me my chance at the beginning, but it was also he who gave me my chance to assist him on the choreographies of Paradis Latin, on the artistic direction of Junior Eurovision, so it’s true that Kamel has always been there”.
