Natural and light, this mattifying powder from Yves Rocher has been everywhere on social networks for several weeks. But is it worth the effort? Here is our verdict after testing it.
It goes without saying that mattifying powders are all the rage as summer approaches. When temperatures rise and the sun starts to peek out again, certain areas of our face may unexpectedly start to shine, giving a shiny appearance to our beauty treatments. To avoid disaster, we immediately brandish the first powder we have on hand in order to even out our complexion as little as possible. However, among all the possibilities that we find on the market, few are effective without having to pay a price… But now a new product seems to be at the top of our beauty desires for the season… and it is signed Yves Rocher.
The promise of a natural and universal blurred complexion
A plant-based cosmetics brand very popular in France, Yves Rocher has since its creation revealed beauty products capable of enhancing women while preserving their natural radiance. After the success of their scented mists, recently, it is their loose powder which seems to be gaining more and more followers online and in particular on TikTok. For what ? A transparent finish that would guarantee flawless skin and the ability to set makeup in a single pass. I was able to test it and here is my opinion.
What effect does this powder have on the skin?
From the first application, I was struck by the lightness of the powder. Which not only makes it very pleasant to wear, but also avoids the “cakey” appearance (understand a cardboardy, plastered complexion). Translucent, it is almost invisible to the naked eye and very easily blurs dark circles and fine lines under the eyes. As someone who has particularly stubborn dark circles, I was impressed by the way the Yves Rocher powder erased them without me having to use a lot of material. Only a few fine particles applied using the powder puff provided with the product are enough to mattify the eye contour. The little extra? The coverage lasts all day, even with heavy makeup! I noticed that my daily smoky-eyes, which tend to smudge in the early evening, were intact after a full day outside. As for the rest, I noticed that the oiliest areas of my face (namely the T zone as well as the chin) were blurred after just one pass, irregularities included. Result: my shine is corrected and my skin texture is smoothed.
Another advantage of the product: its cost. Far from the exorbitant prices of certain brands, Yves Rocher powder costs €27.50. Quite a difference when you imagine daily use. However, it will not be the ideal choice if you want more coverage, since it is designed to be very natural once applied to the desired areas. Fans of “full face” looks (which could be translated as complete and sophisticated makeup) will therefore have to move on.
The other small downside: there is currently only one shade. Although presented as universal, Yves Rocher loose powder remains quite light and will probably not suit darker skin tones. Maybe it’s just a matter of time? We hope so! For now, the product can be found at the price of €27.50 in stores as well as on their official e-shop.
