After hosting the show Teva Deco on the Téva channel for years, Cendrine Dominguez left the small screen. “I couldn’t take it anymore. After my brother died, I could no longer smile, act as if nothing had happened. I was exhausted, empty. Even if I was happy in my activity, it no longer made any sense“, explained the host in an interview with France Sunday.
The former co-host of Fort Boyard was particularly close to her brother, whom she considered her alter ego. Bruised by mourning, she preferred to bow out: “I preferred to face reality, not try to escape it, whatever the consequences.“. And added: “Despite the drama, I wanted to be ‘hyper-alive’. Even if we are not all equal in overcoming sorrows, we come out stronger“.
Cendrine Dominguez had already spoken about her decision to leave the small screen, in the show What happened to thema few years earlier: “I don’t know how to cheat, I don’t know how to smile when I didn’t want to… Television, the camera comes to steal a little of your soul all the same and I said to myself: ‘my soul, there is too much sorrow.’ I told myself I was going to stop“.

And to the 63-year-old ex-host to explain: “I loved presenting Téva Déco for twenty-five years, but I’ve done the trick. However, I am still in the profession, I have produced things and currently I am for the first time directing a film on Canal +. Going from a book to a film makes me very happy“.
