Valérie Mairesse has reached a new milestone: the actress celebrated her 70th birthday last June. But how does she feel about herself now that this step has been taken? Valérie Mairesse, cash on her age: “It’s a bit of a hard number”
The actress does not hide the fact that she was somewhat upset when she celebrated her 70th birthday a few months earlier. But she knows how to put things into perspective: “It’s a bit of a harsh number, but it means that if you live to 70, you’re alive, so I’m taking advantage of it.“For Valérie Mairesse, who had a love affair with Thierry Lhermitte at the start of her adult life, age is really on her mind! “Before, when I was 30, a good 70-year-old woman was an old woman. But I won’t be old as long as my granddaughter says to me: ‘Anyway, you’re not old!‘” she says of her eleven-year-old granddaughter.
If the actress now feels much better in her head and appreciates the maturity she has acquired over the decades, she still admits that she regrets her former physique: “When I was 35, physically, it was the pinnacle! (…) At one time, people said to me: ‘If youth knew, if old age could’. And it’s true“.
Valérie Mairesse, what she prefers at 70: “Fortunately, there are advantages…”
But once again, Valérie Mairesse chooses to look at the positive aspects of these physical changes. “Fortunately there are some advantages. You don’t get bothered by assholes in the street anymore! One day, I said to a friend: ‘Now, I’m no longer afraid for my body, I’m afraid for my bag‘”, blurts out the one who, when younger, had “really very scared” remarks about physical appearance, or even worse.
The artist, who today claims to be independent, was not always so free in her head. “I have changed a lot in 30 years. Today, I no longer forgive men for much. Whereas before! If they were beautiful and they looked at me with love, they could have all the faults in the world, I adored them“, she declared to Europe 1 a few years ago.
If she had confided that she had a companion, in The Big Heads in 2023, the actress remains very discreet about her private life and does not communicate about her current love life. “I try to avoid morons, so that limits the choice“, she had however clarified about the men, to Europe 1.
