An important figure on the small screen, Sophie Davant has received many gifts from viewers who are fans of her. But some gave her very inappropriate gifts, as she recently recounted…
Pleasure of giving, joy of receiving? For Sophie Davant, it’s not always that simple. Invited to the microphone of Éric Dussart on RTL, the former host of A whole story And Deal done recounted receiving gifts that were sometimes very amusing… and others, much more daring.
Sophie Davant flattered by her fans: “more or less successful” gifts
Sophie Davant, who formalized her relationship with William Leymergie in August 2022, has a successful career in the French audiovisual landscape. And like any popular personality, his notoriety was also measured by the sometimes surprising gifts sent by his admirers. When she presented the weather on France 2, between 1987 and 2006, she received numerous drawings from fans. “There were a lot of portraits…“, she confided with a smile, before adding, amused: “more or less similar, more or less successful“.
The 62-year-old presenter could also receive clothes made by viewers. “At the time when I was doing the weather forecast with Laurent Cabrol, we received sweaters. At the time he wore them on air. Sweaters that were not always knitted very well with holes, stitches that had skipped“, she explained. “They looked like Zézette sweaters“, she clarified, in reference to the character played by Marie-Anne Chazel in Santa Claus is trash.
Sophie Davant admits to having “received some rather disgusting gifts…”
The gifts received by Sophie Davant were not always innocent. “Afterwards I received some rather disgusting gifts… For example, somewhat sexual things… Used condoms“, she revealed. “The weather is very encouraging, it inspires a lot“, she tried to explain with a touch of irony.
Despite these gifts of dubious originality to say the least, Sophie Davant explained, in a somewhat resigned tone: ” Every time I am flattered. I say to myself: ‘Well if I inspire this kind of thing, it’s because I must not be too ugly’“. This anecdote reminds us that there is sometimes a gap between public admiration and certain (very) inappropriate attitudes.
