Josiane Balasko, starring in a play with her daughter Marilou Berry, is not a mother who flatters her child excessively. On the contrary, the actress is not giving him a gift, as she explained on the set of “Quotidien”.

Josiane Balasko and Marilou Berry share the bill in a play for the first time, This is lovewhose performances begin on January 23 at the Théâtre des Bouffes-Parisiens. Recently invited on the set of Daily for the occasion, mother and daughter were able to reveal a rather surprising family anecdote…

Josiane Balasko, frank: “If my daughter had been a bad actress…”

Josiane Balasko is today extremely proud of her daughter, Marilou Berry, who is triumphant as an actress. “I am quite proud of his strong character. I am proud of his frankness, of his talent of course“. But is the mother objective in the face of the daughter’s talent? If the 42-year-old actress doubts it, Josiane Balasko assured her that she had the “hindsight“necessary to judge:”I would not have played with an actress without talent even if she had been my daughter, that I want to say“.

And added: “It’s obvious that she was good (…) The first time I saw my daughter play in the cinema, it was at the opening of the Cannes Film Festival in the film Comme une image, in front of a worldwide audience, there was the whole cinema and I saw my daughter in the cinema (…) she was fantastic“.

Josiane Balasko, manipulated by Marilou Berry? “She odiously blackmailed me”

The interpreter of Nathalie in the saga of Tanned is delighted with the woman and actress that Marilou Berry has become. However, the member of the Splendid troupe was not very enthusiastic when her daughter revealed to her that she wanted to get into comedy too, at 16 years old. So, at the time, the teenager made her mother feel guilty.

“The doors slammed and when she decided to become an actress, she odiously blackmailed me. There was a long latency period where she didn’t think about being an actress and all of a sudden at 16, she was stamping her foot and saying: ‘If I’m not an actress, I’m going to be a hustler in Los Angeles!‘”, said the 75-year-old actress, causing hilarity on the set. As for Marilou Berry, she made a point of emphasizing, with a touch of humor: “I have no memory of that. And then it was in New York, I think“.

“Hallucinated“faced with this emotional blackmail, Josiane Balasko decided to help her daughter realize this new dream and showed her more of the workings of the profession. “He first you need to find a school where you can learn theater“, she told him at the time. “I taught my daughter very quickly what a film was. She came with me everywhere to the sound effects, to the editing, to the set so she knew that it was a job and that it wasn’t just ‘we put make-up on you and you squirm a little in front of a camera’“, added the actress, who does not regret having shown him behind the scenes of this world.
