Each year, forget a single tax date can cost you dearly: tax return, reimbursements … Here are those that must be remembered.
No one wants one day to receive a tax from the taxman or pay a fine for a delay in payment. However, it happens more often than we think: tax declaration sent too late, moving or change of situation not reported, rejected levy … Each year, taxpayers find themselves penalized because they have not followed the tax calendar. In general, the dates are similar from year to year, or at least, they occur at the same period.
This year, the tax calendar was somewhat turned upside down because of the late adoption of the Finance 2025 law. The tax authorities must officially unveil it on April 10 – the opening day of the 2025 tax campaign and online declaration service for all French people, even non -taxable -, but several key dates are already known. Here they are:
Due date | Date |
---|---|
Opening of the 2025 taxes campaign | Thursday April 10, 2025 |
Paper declaration | Deadline for sending: Tuesday, May 20, 2025 |
Online declaration (departments n ° 1 to 19 and non -residents in France) |
Deadline: until Thursday May 22, 2025 |
Online declaration (departments n ° 20 to 54) |
Deadline : Wednesday, May 28, 2025 |
Online declaration (departments n ° 55 to 974 and 976) |
Deadline : Thursday June 5, 2025 |
Reception of the tax notice | Between the end of July and August 2025 |
Reimbursement of the overpayment | At the end of July 2025 |
Regularization for tax credits | Summer 2025 |
Payment of the tax balance | At the end of September 2025 |
Adjustment of the withholding tax rate | September 2025 |
Once the paper or online declaration has been returned, taxpayers receive their tax notice during the summer, which attests to the income they have declared. In this same period, at the end of July, some may also receive a refund of the overpayment. Clearly, it is when the taxman makes money because he has taken more taxes than you had to pay. During the summer, this is the time to regularize tax credits, this is where families receive their credit balance for childcare costs.
In September, some taxpayers must pay the payment of the tax balance, this concerns those who still owe money to the tax authorities because they have not paid enough during the year or because they received a reduction or tax credit advance at the start of the year. At the start of the school year, there is also the adjustment of the source deduction rate which is put in place. In any case, be aware that you can find the tax calendar in detail for individuals and professionals on the tax site.gouv.fr. You just have to type in your search bar “particular tax calendar” or “professional tax calendar” and voila!
