Mitsouko of Guerlain has always been part of Inès de la Fressange’s daily life, and even that of her family. “When my daughters were little, they said “mom, you are wearing moustiko” so they absolutely didn’t want me to wear it!“, she confided to Paris Select Book in 2019.
Created in 1919 by Jacques Guerlain, Mitsouko, whose name means “mystery” in Japanese, is a legendary chypre with an avant-garde fruity accord for the time, embodying a sophistication that is both feminine and slightly androgynous. At the top, mandarin, bergamot and lemon unfold with finesse, bringing dazzling freshness. Heart notes such as rose, peach, neroli and jasmine reveal a delicate and sensual bouquet while in the background oakmoss, vetiver, patchouli and vanilla create an enveloping depth.
