Losing weight without following a draconian diet is possible. A recent study confirms this: it would be enough to eliminate a very specific type of food to observe a visible transformation in a few weeks.

The results are final. Researchers followed a group of overweight or obese volunteers for eight weeks. Their mission was simple: modify a single eating habit, without any other imposed rule. Over the weeks, participants have seen their daily calorie intake decrease by more than 600 calories. Immediate consequence, an average weight loss of 3.5 kg in two months, without restrictive diet or intensive sports program.

Besides this visible metamorphosis, other effects appeared: a sugar consumption divided by two, a 37 % reduction in salt consumption and better management of cravings. Better yet, the participants did not compensate by an overconsumption of fruits or vegetables. Proof that this change has not resulted in a lack or frustration. And nutrition specialists are not surprised. This food change acts on two fronts: it limits the intake of superfluous calories and short cuts to food compulsions. “We have deleted a trigger factor of overconsumption”explains Doctor Mir Ali, specialist in weight loss and medical director of Memorialcare Surgical Weight Loss Center in California. The culprits? Ultra-transformed products.

Another expert, Doctor Danbee Kim, confirms it: “These foods are designed to be extremely tasty, which pushes to consume in large quantities, even without hunger”. Their absence naturally leads to a drop in calorie intake and allows the body to more easily regulate its feelings of satiety. Truffled with additives, hidden sugars and poor quality fats, these products dominate the shelves of supermarkets and represent a considerable part of modern diet. Chips, sodas, prepared dishes, industrial cookies: they are designed to be addictive and distort the natural signals of hunger.

Already pointed out for their harmful effects on health (increased risk of diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and even certain cancers), these foods also prove to be a major brake on weight loss. To eliminate them from everyday life is to regain control over its diet and allow the body to find a natural balance in just 2 months!
