Jacques Dutronc: his funny method for communicating with his many cats
The 82-year-old singer has never hidden it: he sometimes prefers the presence of cats to that of humans. “I still saw him having up to 53 cats in Corsica“, even declared his son Thomas Dutronc in the preface to the biography of the old scoundrel, Dutronc, a life in songs.
Even when he is far from his Corsican home populated with felines, Jacques Dutronc maintains the link with his cats… in his own way. Always as unpredictable, the interpreter of I like girls found a wacky method to stay in touch with them, to say the least, if we are to believe the words of host Camille Combal who recounted this “very funny anecdote” at the microphone of NRJ.
“This is an anecdote that a friend of Jacques Dutronc told me and which is 100% true. You know that he lives in Corsica in a house with lots of cats: he adopts stray cats and has around twenty or thirty of them. And when he goes to the capital for concerts, to see his son or for another reason, all day long he sends faxes to his cats in which he writes ‘meow'”said the host, amused, before specifying: “There’s a fax machine in his office in Corsica and so the fax comes out and it says ‘meow’ on it for his cats.”
Jacques Dutronc, crazy about felines: “It stank around the house…”
On the gate of his house in Monticello, in Corsica, which he shares with his partner Sylvie Duval, Jacques Dutronc even made sure to add a sign to warn local residents: “Ride slowly, relate to the cats. THANKS”. His neighbor explained to Parisian: “He A few years ago, there were around fifty. People knew that Jacques took good care of them, so they threw the babies over the wall for him.“.
“We slept poorly, constantly being woken up by these cats who spent the night fighting and howling. And then, since they weren’t all operated on, it stank badly around the house.“, had described his son in his biography. Now, the singer has “only” ten of them.
