Forget the endless hours on your racing mat, the latest fashionable diet or this spoon of apple cider vinegar before each meal. According to Jimmy Mohamed, a simple reflex would be much more effective in losing weight.
It is a promise that we often hear, a little too much: slim down without sweating and without depriving oneself. But when it is Doctor Jimmy Mohamed who talks about it on RTL, we hold out. General practitioner, author of several works on health, well -known columnist, he inspires, without giving lessons. And this time, he drives a nail: no, playing sports twice a week will not be enough to lose weight.
The myth of miracle sport, Jimmy Mohamed dismantles it in a few well -felt sentences. “We must stop believing that doing two hours of sport per week, with endless abs, will help lose weight or belly. It is illusory to believe that it works”, he cuts. There is no question here to denigrate physical activity – it remains excellent for mental health, heart, bones. But in terms of balance, it does not weigh so heavy. He says it clearly: physical exercise represents only a small end of the equation. “The sport you do, in reality, it represents about 15% of the calories that you will burn”, he explains. Translation: if your goal is to lose weight, it will be a question of sweating a little more than twice a week in the room. It is the small everyday gestures that make the difference. Take the stairs, walk as soon as you can, get off the bus a stop before. Nothing revolutionary, but it changes everything. And then, beyond the cardio, the doctor emphasizes another point: “We must not forget to make muscle strengthening to fight against loss of mass”he recalls. No need to lift melting: simple, regular exercises are enough.
But all this is only the visible part of the iceberg. Jimmy Mohamed targets a very frequent error: believe that you eat little. “This advice is valid for all people who want to lose weight and who think or say they eat nothing”he insists. The solution? “I recommend that you note over a week everything you eat from raising to bedtime. Weigh your food. Take them picture.” And at the end of the week, you will see. We forget the chocolate square standing up in the kitchen, the end of compote of the little one, the three almonds as an aperitif. These small gaps which, put end to end, make the difference. By noting everything, you will become aware of your habits. Some will discover that they eat too many starchy foods, others not enough protein. Still others will understand that they nibble all day. It is not a punitive method. It is a mirror.
“Once you have done that, you can rebalance the scale, have a health professional accompanied and lose weight if you wish”, concludes Jimmy Mohamed. In short, a slimming method within everyone’s reach.
