Today, less than 5% of cancer patients participate in clinical trials, although a majority of patients (+70%) would be ready to participate if they were aware. For their part, doctors have difficulty finding clinical trials in their own centers but also outside. “There are public registers but they are rarely updated,” underlines Arnaud Bayle, oncologist and co-founder of Klineo alongside Thomas Peyresblanques, who want to replace the good old Excel files in clinics.
This start-up created at the end of 2021 lists all clinical trials opened in France, with a real-time update, and sends notifications to users in the event of a new clinical trial corresponding to the patient’s criteria. It allows a patient to be “matched” with a clinical trial in one minute using an in-house algorithm based on several characteristics (type of cancer, place of residence, etc.). Less than three years after its creation, the start-up raised two million euros from business angels and Bpifrance.
