Do you work and impossible for you to get your child after school? There is necessarily a practical solution, which corresponds to your needs and your budget. Our tips for choosing the right childcare mode.
It is 4:30 p.m., the bell sounds and your children leave school! Problem, your working day ends a little later and you can neither take care of your children, nor have them kept by a loved one. The solution? Leave them to the leisure center or entrust them to a nanny, two childcare modes to choose according to your budget, your availability and the desires of your child.
The leisure center after school
After class, your child can go and find his school comrades at leisure center, Who takes care of your child. Before going to play or participate in activities, they take a snack, surrounded by animators holding BAFA. Children in primary school then join a classroom to do their homework. According to establishments and the age of schoolchildren, children are watched by a teacher or by the animators. Note that the supervision and monitoring of homework is not always optimal, especially if your child needs to be relatively well assisted in his duties. Indeed, it sometimes happens that they are postponed back home around 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. and in this case, the leisure center is not the most suitable solution for your child. After homework or snack (for kindergartens), the animators offer children to participate in activities (manual, sporting, artistic, etc.) depending on their tastes and their age.
At the leisure center after school (or CLAE), the time is fun: your child must feel a real cut with his school day. If he risks being a little lost at the beginning, your child will very quickly take his marks very quickly and will be done at the same time full of new friends. Even if the days can be long and tiring for your children, the leisure center is a less expensive option than a nanny or a baby-sitter, which will charge you on time (between 8 and 12 euros per hour, excluding any transport costs). The price is set by the leisure center and calculated according to your resources. Depending on the structure, you will pay the day or the year. Again, depending on the establishments, the quality of the supervision and the animations are variable: so before choosing, do not hesitate to find out to other mothers of the school to have information or their opinions on the well-being of children at the leisure center.
The baby-sitter or the nanny at home
The use of a nanny or a baby-sitter (particular or dependent on a specialized agency that takes care of its recruitment) can be more comfortable for the child, since it is in a relaxing environment which he knows well. She will then be able to pick up your child from school, and help him do his homework or other more fun activities. Please note, not all have the same faculty to offer games and activities or good educational approaches. During the “casting” of your nanny, turn to a rather creative and pedagogue person! In addition, the schedules are flexible enough and you can easily agree in order to set up an hourly schedule according to your availability.
Depending on the city and the agency, the use of a nanny is a little more expensive, but ask your CAF: there are aids and tax deductions, and according to your income and the number of dependent children, the calculation can be interesting! Also, to limit the costs, remember to share the guard with another family whose child is educated in the same class or the same school. Another alternative: cut the pear in two … Nothing prevents you for example from leaving your children an hour at the leisure center and asking a nanny to take care of it one or two hours in order to reduce the expenses of the guard. Note that for children under the age of six, the use of a childminder may be considered.
One last advice. Before making your choice, do not neglect well-being, preferences, pace or the way of being of your child. He may prefer to stay at the daycare, while another will not feel comfortable and flourish in a quieter environment with fewer children around him. Sometimes you will have no choice, so don’t feel guilty, children often adapt better than you think!
You can inquire with your CAF to find out your rights and consult the regulations applicable to leisure receptions on the website of the Ministry of Youth.
