In 2024, the Livret A provided a net return of 3%, higher than the average rate of euro funds for life insurance contracts, of 2.50% gross. But some life insurance contracts have managed to stand out by doing much better.

In 2024, the two favorite investments of the French – the Livret A and life insurance – showed very close rates. For its part, Livret A posted a net remuneration of 3% throughout last year. On the other hand, the return on life insurance in euro funds – that is to say with guaranteed capital, like the Livret A – should land at an average return of 2.50%, according to the firm Facts & Figures .
This expected average, unfavorable for life insurance, did not prevent certain contracts from doing much better, according to the first yields communicated and listed in our comparative ranking of 2024 performances. However, we must not forget that these yields are given net of management fees by insurers but before taxes. It is therefore still necessary to at least withdraw the social security contributions (17.2%) – withdrawn annually before the payment of interest – to obtain a return comparable to that of the Livret A*.
A net rate of 3.85% for the best euro fund of 2024
So, to know if your insurance contract did better than the Livret A last year, it must display a rate of at least 3.65%which gives, once social security contributions have been deducted, remuneration very slightly higher than the 3% of Livret A. And it turns out that certain contracts have succeeded in this. This is primarily the case of Corum Life from the Corum group, which will distribute the best performance of the year, with a monster yield of 4.65%, i.e. 3.85% net of social security contributions. This is also the case for Ampli mutual, which, on its Ampli Assurance Vie contract, provides a rate of 3.75%, i.e. 3.1% net. Another mutual, France Mutualiste, misses the step by a hair, since with a very attractive rate of 3.60% on its euro fund, it is placed just below 3% net, at 2. 98%.
Finally, note that some savers were able to cross the 3.60% yield mark thanks to bonuses granted by certain players. Thus, Primonial’s Euro Security Infra Euro fund displays a rate of 3.5% in 2024, but the latter was able to reach 5% (bonus of 1.5% included) for payments integrating at least 50% of units of account (UC), supports which expose the saver to a risk of capital loss. Ditto for the Sequoia and Ebène contracts of Société Générale, whose rates could rise respectively to 4.53% and 4.75% in 2024 with the maximum bonus of 1.5%.
Livret A, LEP: what to do if your savings book reaches the ceiling?
*Taxation in respect of income tax only applies when withdrawing funds, and varies depending on the age of the contract, once any reductions have been applied.
