What if a good quality of life no longer had to rhyme with financial sacrifices? According to a recent ranking, a very sunny, lively and charming European city ticks all the boxes for moving there.
Purchasing power looks grim, but the desire for a more pleasant life does not weaken. At a time when having a good quality of life without blowing your budget seems to have become almost mission impossible, certain cities in Europe prove that you can still combine beauty, the sweetness of life and affordable prices.
The large European capitals are becoming more and more difficult to access when you want to settle there, such as Paris where rents are at indecent prices for small areas… But certain other large cities, European gems, remain surprisingly affordable. The platform Finance Buzz has thus established a new top 15 cities where life is good in the world and where the cost of living is relatively low. And the one who tops the rankings is European!
Where can we “live your best life” in the world according to this ranking? In third place on the podium, it is the city of Cebu, in the Philippines, the second largest city in the country, which surprises. This place offers breathtaking landscapes, with easy access to dream beaches, water activities as well as tempting gastronomy. Above all, the cost of living is 50% lower than in France, according to West France. Something to enjoy without counting every penny spent…
Then Cape Town, the capital of South Africa, is in second place. According to the regional newspaper, the cost of living there is 48% lower than in France and daily life is both dynamic and relaxing. The city is sunny, green, and with diverse nature, between sea and mountains.
But it is the discreet Bari, bordered by the turquoise waters of the Adriatic, in the superb region of Puglia, which is at the top of this ranking. The Italian city of 315,000 inhabitants combines Mediterranean charm, easy living and affordable prices. Depending on the platform OK Travelthe cost of living in Bari is 8% lower than in the rest of Italy and above all 14% lower than in France.
In this port and university town of Puglia, the sun is out almost all year round, the local cuisine is a real delight (especially orecchiette dishes, a specialty of the region) and accommodation is available at reasonable prices: 2200 euros on average per m² for the purchase of accommodation.
Moral of the story? It’s not because you have a small budget that you can’t find medium or large cities in which to live. And, of course, nothing forces you to take the plunge into exile, in France too there are still places where you can start a good life without breaking the bank.
