If in the collective unconscious, the wedding cake is made up of cream puffs, it can be much more trendy! Here are some tips for choosing it according to the theme of your wedding.

Traditional, the wedding cake is composed of nougatine choux and vanilla mousseline cream. She was born in ancient times in Greece. At the time, guests would break large pieces of bread over the heads of the newlyweds, to offer them happiness and fertility. In the Middle Ages, the basic large loaf was replaced by small loaves that diners had to stack to form a tower. The most famous of them was designed in the 19th century by the French chef Antonin Lent. Called croque-en-bouche, its pyramid made of fruit and caramel was dedicated to Prince Berthier. This is why some people keep calling the wedding cake, the croquembouche. Over the centuries, the wedding cake evolved, becoming lighter and changing shape! If you want to respect tradition, you can ask for a recipe for a traditional cake, but original in terms of its shape. Pyramid, house, boat, waterfall, Eiffel Tower…: all fantasies are allowed for your wedding! Don’t forget the little characters in your likeness at the top which represent you for eternity even if they are often intended to be chewed.

A chocolate strawberry cake

Chocolate enthusiasts, you will love this original wedding cake. Made up of strawberries, sometimes bananas covered in white, dark or milk chocolate, these creations by L’Orgasme are as beautiful to look at as they are to bite into.

A wedding cake made of macaroons

If you want to give a little facelift to the king of desserts on your wedding day, you can bet on a wedding cake just as delicious, made with meringues or macaroons which will allow you to play with colors. Specialties from La Durée, these biscuits made with almond powder, sugar and egg whites are very popular in vanilla, pistachio, chocolate, raspberry or hazelnut versions, but be aware that the pastry chefs are full of creativity and can offer you some with rose petals, bergamot, matcha tea or lavender!

A wedding cake with cupcakes

You can also fall for the the girliest wedding cake of the moment: the cupcake cake ! Composed of a sponge cake base and a topping rich in butter and sugar, these little American cakes conquered the whole world. Easily accessible, cupcakes allow the pastry chef to give free rein to their imagination and sometimes transform into real little works of art.

A wedding cake with lightning bolts

Another option for a wedding cake which changes from the ordinary: the mounted piece of mini éclairs this time very French! You can therefore fall for the Caroline cake composed of mini eclairs and vanilla choux or succumb to the pyramid entirely covered in mini lightning bolts. Graphic and resolutely modern, it has the advantage of pleasing young and old alike and ending the meal with a fireworks display of colors.

Classic or offbeat, the wedding cake remains the highlight of the show. She embodies this suspended moment when eyes turn to the bride and groom, cameras flash, and children stamp their feet with impatience. Whether topped with golden puffs, pastel macarons, sparkling cupcakes or tangy éclairs, it tells a story: yours. That of a couple who dares to mix tradition and modernity, elegance and indulgence. So, whatever its shape or flavor, make your wedding cake an unforgettable memory.
