Homemade products are increasingly finding their way into our cupboards. For daily maintenance, a homemade cleaner is useful, but a natural disinfectant product is even more effective against bacteria. How to make a homemade disinfectant? Discover some simple and effective recipes here.

Summary

We don’t always think about it, but disinfecting your home is an essential step for a healthy interior. Whether it is the kitchen worktop, the mattress and pillows in the bedding or even the bathroom sink, disinfection eliminates bacteria and permanently sanitizes surfaces.

Recipe #1: a disinfectant based on white vinegar

Certainly, the use of bleach as a household disinfectant has long proven its effectiveness, it is nevertheless advisable not to overuse this sodium hypochlorite, which is toxic, corrosive and polluting. The trend is towards natural products, harmless to the environment but also to health. And that’s good since it is entirely possible to make a disinfectant with these ingredients. To do this, you will need to mix in a spray bottle:

  • 1 glass of white vinegar (degreaser, stain remover and scale remover)
  • 2 tbsp. tablespoons of baking soda (deodorizer, stain remover and scale remover)
  • 1/2 glass of household alcohol (degreaser and stain remover)
  • 5 drops of radiant eucalyptus essential oil (antibacterial and antiseptic)
  • 5 drops of Tea Tree essential oil (deodorant and antifungal)
  • 2 glasses of filtered water

Your natural disinfectant cleaner is ready! Be careful, however, not to use it on porous surfaces such as stone or marble.

Recipe no. 2: a disinfectant based on black soap

Small variation but just as natural: the use of black soap is also known to disinfect the house. In addition, it is less aggressive than white vinegar and will therefore clean all types of surfaces. In a spray bottle, mix:

  • 2 tbsp. tablespoon of liquid black soap
  • 750 ml of hot water
  • 10 drops of Tea Tree essential oil

Recipe No. 3: a disinfectant based on hydrogen peroxide

Less often cited in homemade cleaning preparations than vinegar or baking soda, hydrogen peroxide nevertheless has disinfectant qualities that are just as effective. Combined with vinegar, it turns out to be formidable. To use it, mix:

  • 500 ml of white vinegar
  • 400 ml of water
  • 50 ml of hydrogen peroxide (only a small dose because it is very powerful)

Another alternative, this time associated with Tea Tree essential oil. In addition to its disinfectant properties, hydrogen peroxide is a very good stain remover. To do this, you will need to pour into a sprayer:

  • 750 ml of water
  • 1/4 cup of hydrogen peroxide
  • 2 tbsp. tablespoon of lemon juice
  • 10 drops of Tea Tree essential oil

Ready, set, disinfect!
