Marie Drucker made a radical life change ten years ago: she decided to end her career as a journalist, in particular to devote more time to her personal life. Today, does the 51-year-old host regret her choice?

The one who was a joker on the 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. news on France 2 between 2008 and 2016 took a risk by leaving everything overnight. But she wanted to devote herself more to her life as a mother. “I had a one year old child. I was working a lot with very little freedom in my schedule, and I felt great frustration“, explained in TV Magazine the mother of Jean, 11 years old, born from her former love with high-ranking civil servant Mathias Vicherat.
She also felt more and more oppressed on a daily basis: “The information and its rhythm exercised a kind of tyranny over me that I experienced less well.“. In addition, Michel Drucker’s niece had just made a documentary, Inmatesas part of the show Infrared. “I told myself that, if it was successful, I would stop and focus more on creation. And that’s what happened“, she said. Two months after the broadcast of this documentary, she resigned without even informing those close to her of her decision.
And when she left the world of journalism, Marie Drucker, who also became a screenwriter, decided to completely disconnect from news: “My disconnection for ten years is essential. I established a very tight cordon santé, even though current affairs were a great passion. I think I couldn’t write fiction if I was connected to the way the world was going like before“.

Motherhood was the first factor that triggered this desire to change my life. “Motherhood makes us re-examine everything, our place in the world, our relationship with death, our deep desires“, she assured the SHE in 2025. And added: “It is an incomparable identity revolution which is accompanied by new feelings“.
Marie Drucker may wear many hats, but it is her role as mother that is the most complicated on a daily basis. “There is nothing more difficult than raising children, in any case I put crazy demands on it. The only person who can give me stage fright is my son!“, she assured.
