Today, pets can also become real stars. And as with humans, fame is synonymous with wealth for our four-legged friends. Discover the staggering salaries of the highest paid dogs and cats.
What if your dog earned more than you? No more debates on salary inequalities between men and women: from now on, it is our four-legged companions who are breaking all records in terms of remuneration. In cinema, on social networks or even in advertising campaigns for major brands, animals are taking the jackpot. All the way to the Hollywood Hills, dogs and cats get their own fee for every contract. Amounts that can reach unimaginable heights.
As with their human friends, dogs who only play supporting roles are obviously not the best paid. But all the same, on average, we can count on up to 50 euros per day for the animal and up to 150 additional euros for its owner. But if the little ball of fur lands a more substantial role, the prices skyrocket. In a survey published in 2014, the magazine The Hollywood Reporter revealed that an animal appearing in major American productions could earn between 5,000 and 10,000 dollars per year, with a single day of filming being paid around 400 dollars at the time. And again, like human actors, the amount of the fee goes hand in hand with the level of celebrity. And not only in dogs and cats: Cystal, the monkey seen in particular in Very Bad Trip 2 and in the first two parts of the saga Night at the museumreceived a salary of no less than $100,000 per year for his roles!
Other animals even combine activities: movie star, but also social networks. This is the case of Peggy “the hairless pug”, nicknamed the ugliest female dog in Hollywood. Followed by a million subscribers on Instagram, she notably starred in Deadpool & Wolverine with Ryan Reynolds, whom she then accompanied on red carpets around the world for the film’s promotional tour. Beth, from the “pardonthyfrench” account, was also a renowned influencer: her Instagram publications cost around $25,000 each, and she even landed a one-year contract for the modest sum of $200,000, as her mistress Lindsay Van Bramer told New York Post in 2025. She even starred in the Netflix series Pet Starsa title that says it all. These animal stars of social networks are “petfluencers”. And even more than the actors, they are capable of raising the bill to new heights. “They make a lot of money. Some of our clients have been paid $40,000 for a single post”confirms the founder of The Dog Agency, an animal influencer agency, to our colleagues.
Some owners will also cry discrimination, but you should know that dogs are generally more in demand and even better paid than cats. With the possible exception of Choupette, Karl Lagerfeld’s cat and main heir. Followed by more than 275,000 followers on Instagram, she travels by private jet, poses for numerous brands, and even got a dubbing role in the latest film The Smurfsin which she makes the “meow” of Azraël, Gargamel’s cat. The sacred beauty of Burma, however, has never revealed her salary to the general public.
