On the occasion of the World Day against Infantil Cancerand that was celebrated on February 15th, Myeduwhich for over 10 years has designed and developed resources and tools for digital teaching to support students and teachers in school courses, consolidates its commitment for increasingly usable and inclusive learning. The technology applied to education, together with adequate training, proves to be a precious ally of inclusion and accessibility: it allows you to facilitate the study, as in the case of boys and girls with specific learning disorders (DSA) or Special educational needs (BES), but also to break down the distances and to create tools for learning that are usable everywhere with great ease, even in the hospital departments.
Every year in Italy they are recorded About 1,500 new cases of cancer in the age group 0-14 years: Oncological pediatric patients face a long and difficult care path, often far from their city, which prevents them from attending school. In addition to the psychological and relational difficulties that implies the interruption of their daily lives, it is added to continue the course of study and remain at the passage of their peers. In situations like these, innovative technological solutions can do a lot.
For this reason Myedu, partner of the Ministry of Education, wanted to make his contribution by giving devices and access to his digital teaching platform To the boys and girls hosted/and joined by reality engaged in both psychological and practical support of small oncological patients and their families. The first non -profit organizations have taken part in the project are: the Davide Ciavattini Association, which hosts and supports the families of patients hospitalized in the Bambino Gesù Pediatric Hospital in Rome, The CONGIULIA ONLUS Associationwhose volunteers manage several patient support projects, including the School in the summer hospital for boys and girls hospitalized at l‘Hospital Pope John XXIII of Bergamo And Peter Pan Odv which offers free patients and their families for free to accommodate in Rome for those who arrive from outside the city and from abroad for the whole time of care and subsequently for control visits.
Staying in step with the lessons and topics covered in their own classes of origin for children and girls not only from the point of view of their school goals, but it is also very important for their psychological state.
“With Myedu, a strong synergy was immediately established that allowed us in a very short time to be able to have the extremely useful digital teaching platform for our patients hosted in our reception house,” he said Alessandro Pinci, President of the Davide Ciavattini Association, “the Myedu system is simple, interactive and designed for children and teenagers and usable without the need for a particular technical and human support. For our small patients this system is very useful because they can use it at any time, which is very important to take into account that these are oncohematological patients subject to moments in which the state of health can make it difficult to focus on didactic activities, So this flexibility in the use adapts perfectly to their needs. We are really grateful to all Myedu staff for the precious support they have provided to our association and in particular to our patients “.
“We are honored to be able to contribute with this project to help the volunteers of precious realities committed every day alongside the young patients and their families,” he underlined Laura Fumagalli, President of Myedu, «in the direction of an increasingly inclusive and personalized school on the specific needs of each child, With this initiative we also want to guarantee children and girls who are facing an oncological pathology some elements of school everyday life during their care period, Through the use of digital content and special devices that can facilitate them in distance learning ».
With this project Myedu hopes, as he explained in a note, that he could reach as many realities as possible throughout the territory, identifying the structures that support the hospitalized patients and their families with generosity and dedication, To try to give concrete help in training and learning, towards the construction of an increasingly inclusive school system.
