Everyone generally thinks about replacing their household accessories like rags or sponges since these tools degrade and clearly become less effective over time. In other words, even when you clean your toilet brush regularly, it cannot be kept for too long, because the bristles retain invisible particles which accumulate over time. Replacing it frequently ensures more effective cleaning and limits bacterial contamination in your toilet.

There are some signs that it’s time to replace your toilet brush: worn, deformed or discolored bristles, lingering residue despite cleaning, or an unpleasant odor that doesn’t go away. These problems can be made worse by common mistakes, such as storing the brush while still wet in a closed holder, which encourages moisture and mold, or leaving it too long without cleaning. To avoid rapid deterioration, remember to adopt good maintenance practices and regularly monitor its condition.

To clean a toilet brush, prepare a disinfectant solution by mixing hot water with white vinegar and baking soda, or a little diluted bleach. Let the brush soak in this solution for 30 minutes, then scrub it lightly to remove any residue. Rinse it thoroughly with hot water and let it drain over the bowl to prevent water from stagnating in the support. Also clean the support with the same disinfectant solution and let it dry before replacing the brush on it.
