This school year, 12 million students will return to class, accompanied by 870,000 teachers: this is a crucial moment, because it is in the classrooms that the future of a generation is played out, every day. It is also during the first weeks that the foundations of the teacher-student relationship are built, decisive for the quality of learning in the year ahead.
This relationship is at the heart of all issues: it requires teachers to have mastery of knowledge, know-how and psychosocial skills. A key relationship, but one that is shaken by challenges that successive reforms of National Education have not yet managed to address.
