Payment initiation is on the rise. The Directorate General of Public Finances has decided to use this process to simplify the payment of certain invoices related to local authorities. Contacted by the writing of Capital, the press office of the Ministry of the Economy told us that local invoices are concerned, in particular linked to the canteen, the hospital, or the leisure center. Still according to Bercy, it was the Parisian company Fintecture which won the call for tenders concerning the establishment of this new means of payment.

What is the payment initiation? To put it simply, this is a process that allows you to pay an invoice via a bank transfer system, according to a simplified procedure. This technology has emerged thanks to the payment services directive, more commonly known as DSP2. One question arises: how does this new payment solution work that local authorities want to set up?

What are the key steps to succeed in your payment initiation?

The Directorate General for Public Finance has set up an online payment solution, called Payfit. This service is open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week to public services users, depending on the site housing Payfit. Regarding the previously mentioned local invoices, several options are available to you: payment by bank card, the single levy, as well as the simplified transfer, also called the payment initiation according to Les Echos.

Regarding the simplified transfer, the depliant of public finances explains the different stages to make the payment. By choosing to pay with this process, you will be automatically directed to your online banking area, where you will have to authenticate. At that time, you will be offered an order of transfer of the amount of the invoice. You just have to validate this operation. Finally, a payment ticket will be sent to you by email. Important point: simplified transfer can be made on computer or smartphone.

Simplified process, process security: the specifics of payment initiation

The use of this payment solution seems to have some advantages. First, it will not be necessary to manually enter the bank card numbers or the IBAN. The process is thus simplified to facilitate the payment of local invoices, while reducing the risk of entry errors.

In addition, the DGFIP highlights a secure tool for the payment of your local invoices. Indeed, each operation must be validated by an “authentication” stage in your online banking area, thus guaranteeing the safety of the transaction.
