The new study by Japanese researchers shows that this well -known food accelerates the time of falling asleep and improves the quality of sleep.
Food plays a crucial role in general well-being, including for the quality of sleep. Certain foods promote rapid and restful sleep while others disrupt it. It is for example known that a fatty and heavy meal in the evening prevents sleeping well. Researchers at the University of Medicine in Kanazawa, Japan, this time demonstrate the benefits of a well -known and present food in almost all kitchens to reduce sleep time and improve nights.
To achieve this conclusion, scientists conducted an in -depth study with 1900 men and women aged 20 to 60. Each participant had to fill out a detailed questionnaire on their eating habits, specifically assessing their consumption of white rice, bread and durum wheat (noodles). The quality of their sleep was then measured for a month using a specific index, making it possible to identify those with poor quality sleep.
The results of this research published in the journal Plos One are particularly interesting. It has been found that people consuming wheat products, such as pasta, in the evening, had a sleep of less good quality. Conversely, fans of rice at dinner showed signs of improved sleep, with a reduced falling time by 10 minutes on average. This phenomenon is explained by the fact that a high glycemic index (that of white rice being generally higher than that of hard wheat pasta) directly influences the production of chemicals in the brain linked to sleep (tryptophan, melatonin).
If rice can be a precious ally for faster falling asleep, it is essential to know the golden rules of a good sleep: favor as much as possible of regular bedtime and lifting, create an environment conducive to sleep (darkness, calm, freshness) and avoid exciting (caffeine, screens) before sleeping. Combining a balanced diet with these good habits will help fully enjoy your nights.
