The number of diagnoses for students suffering from specific learning disorders (DSA) increases in Italy. At the total of the schools – between state, equal and non -equal – pupils with DSA, are 354,569 out of a total of 5,909,071 students. Of these, 49,418 brake the primary and correspond to a percentage of 3.2% out of a total of 1,526,367 pupils. 112.210 attend secondary secondary, 6.7% out of a total of 1,667,818 pupils, and 192,941 secondary secondary, equal to 7.1% out of a total of 2,714,886 pupils. 90.3% of pupils with DSA attend state schools while 9.7% non -state management schools; Of these 6.8% of equal schools and 2.9% non -equal schools enrolled in the register.
The most diagnosed disorders are those of dyslexia (36%), followed by dysorthography disorders with 23%, by disorders of discalculia and dysgraphia, respectively with 21.5% and 19.5% of the total. “It is now known that, despite the specific learning disorders are generally diagnosed after the normal process of teaching reading and writing skills (second class of primary school) and calculation (third class of primary school) is finished, it is possible that the first signals of the presence of learning disorder are found, through the administration of specific tests in healthcare structures, already in the preschool age when these disorders are not yet completely And they are not officially diagnosed and recognized », explains the ministry.
