Thanks to Gariwo Foundation and his collaborators (Ipsia ACLI, the active nonviolence center and the Italian Association of Snow Friends Shalom Wahat al-Salam) The “Tento del Mourning” initiative will be held on 21 September. The day includes many activities, starting at 14:00, at the Garden of the Giusti all over the world, in via Cimabue 40 in Milan. Coinciding with the International Peace Day established by the United Nations General Assembly, The initiative aims to raise awareness of the delicate situation in the Middle East, looking for a meeting point between peoples. The aim is to get to understand each other, through the listening and sharing of common experiences, mourning and suffering caused by the tragic succession of the events between Israel and Gaza.
The route starts at the north entrance of the garden where it will be possible to scan a QR-Code that refers to an audio containing small stories. Meanwhile, you can look up and admire photographs hanging from the branches of the trees of the garden: shots that portray men and women who fight every day for peace in the Middle East. After the photographic album, you will then reach the “mourning tent” where the experience will take on a strong emotional impact: A 19 -hour audio will be broadcast with the names of all Palestinian girls and boys who died during the conflict, you can also listen to the names of Israeli children who died on October 7, 2023.
In the afternoon, various activities suitable for any age group will take place. There will be interventions of writers, directors, actors and musicians who will bring stories and testimonies, such as The Palestinian writer Widad Tamimi, who will be present at the event with his father Khader Palestinian refugee. From 15.30 to 16.30 two peace education workshops will take place; One for children (7-10 years) and one for the boys (11-16 years). Subsequently (around 5.30 pm) Claudio Bisio And other prominent personalities from the Milanese cultural world will read some poems and songs written by Palestinian authors in the last two years. At 6 pm the strong point of the afternoon, thanks to the testimonies of Irit Hakim and Aisha Khatib, coordinators of Combarnts for Peace (CFP), joint movement-Palestinian Founded in 2006 with the aim of peacefully fighting Israeli employment on Palestinian soil. You can also listen to the testimonies of Noam Pupko and Issam Sabellaspokesperson for the project “Rondine Cittadella della Pace”. Throughout the afternoon, a reading space dedicated to children will be set up in the garden, with peace and non -violence books provided by the library of nonviolence.
The invitation of the associations is aimed at anyone who wants to participate, To try in the baby to make the difference and to give a sign of presence in such a hard and complex historical period for the Palestinian population.
