There is something new on the robot vacuum cleaner side. Roomba is launching a model that is as practical as it is desirable, tested by the editorial staff.

Until now, the robot vacuum cleaner was not for everyone! Not only does the unattractive waste base often take up a lot of space, but above all the device is not always very effective in interiors with a lot of furniture. The reason? Its large size which does not really allow it to slip into small corners, between the legs of armchairs and other small furniture. This was without counting on iRobot, a pioneering brand of robot vacuum cleaners with its now well-known Roomba model, which decided to revise its copy in a mini version. A major revolution that changes things more than we think.

Because yes, size matters! The editorial team tested the all-new Roomba mini and found that this model removes dust where its predecessors did not. Concretely, no need to move chairs or vacuum after cleaning to take care of inaccessible areas, this little gem of technology fits (almost) everywhere to save you the chore of cleaning. Its low height also allows it to slide under certain furniture to eliminate dust even in invisible places. A real asset for cleaning under a Scandinavian-inspired sofa.

The size of its base has also been revised, which makes it much easier to find a place in the house. And who would want to hide it? The Roomba mini offers, in addition to black and white, two colors which make it a decorative accessory in its own right, mint green and pastel pink, so as to best integrate into stylish interiors.

But can you be mini and pretty without being a gadget? The little pink robot was put to the test in my home where a little girl’s snack crumbs and dog hair are part of everyday life. After a very easy handling and a first charge, the robot started mapping. Surprise, this step was rather quick and the robot did not bump once, as could happen with old models. I set up the rooms on the app and was able to create a routine for the vacuum to run on its own every day. And if necessary, I can always order targeted cleaning.

Several modes are offered. Standard cleaning is quite quick and very effective for daily use. The battery is then powerful enough to cover the entire apartment and the vacuum cleaner then returns to the base to empty itself automatically. Deep cleaning is more demanding and requires the device to recharge during the operation. He will then resume his task alone. Another possibility, and not the least: the vacuum cleaner is also a scrubber. To do this, simply add an accessory under the device, clip a wipe and start a new passage. We can say that for such a small size and a price of 399 euros, the product is very complete.

What really makes the difference? Its pleasant design. Smaller, it is less intrusive in a room whether it is in charge or in operation, but above all its color re-enchants a technical product. While in the 2010s many brands offered colorful models, this trend had gradually disappeared. Roomba dares to return and once again mixes business with pleasure. On the technical side, while it has nothing to envy of a classic robot vacuum cleaner, it still won’t replace elbow grease and if you want a truly impeccable interior, expect to do some touch-ups, especially in the corners. The robot vacuum cleaner is certainly a small revolution in homes, but it doesn’t do everything!
