The San Siro stadium also ended up at the center of an investigation by the Milan prosecutor’s office. A “model 45” inscription – without crimes or investigated – but with the aim of verifying whether the sale of the Meazza, launched by the Sala Administration, can cause damage to the public coffers. A new front for Palazzo Marino, already shaken by urban scandals and excellent arrests. A theme that Famiglia Cristiana deepened with an investigation into the release number from Thursday 31 July in all newsstands and parishes.
It was also to ask for clarity Luigi Corbani, former deputy mayor and today spokesperson for the “Yes Meazza” committee, promoter of a complaint that will be contested hard for the project: “We are talking about an end of the season,” accuses. And pitting the numbers: The Municipality intends to sell the stadium to Milan and Inter for 72.9 million euros, a price calculated by the Revenue Agency. But he said he was available to pay 80 million to break down. The result? A negative balance.
But the biggest game is played outside the rectangle of play. In addition to the Meazza, the agreement provides for the sale of 262 thousand square meters of neighboring areas for 124 million, equal to 473 euros per square meter. A balance price in an area of Milan where real values – according to independent estimates – can touch 2,000 euros per meter. In total, the two clubs would pay 197 million for an urban operation of enormous value, but the Municipality would support 80 in demolition: the “package” would be away from 117 million net.
For Corbani, the project should be blocked. Not only for economic reasons, but also for lack of transparency. For years, in fact, the negotiation has been reserved, directed between the Municipality and the club, without a public tender. Some alternative projects-which proposed the recovery of the stadium, such as those signed aceti-matgistretti or webuild-ri-have been ignored.
“There is no political direction, such as the commitment of the clubs for the public housing in via Selinunte and Segesta”, attacks Corbani. «Mayor Sala said that politics cannot always impose rules. But then who should do it »? In his opinion, it is a surrender to economic power. And the choice to break down the Meazza by 2025 appears dictated by a precise deadline: that of the 70 years of the second ring, which would trigger the architectural constraint.

On this point there is a legal battle. According to the Municipality, the term starts from 10 November 1955; For the Committee, however, since January of the same year. The Tar gave reason to Palazzo Marino, rejecting the suspension, but the climate remains tense.
Especially since the investigation into real estate projects has also lapped the new stadium. The prosecutors speak of a possible conflict of interest that would involve the landscape commission and the councilor for urban planning Giancarlo Tancredi, who was responsible for the procedure for the new plant. The company J+S, linked to the designers mentioned in the investigation, is the same who has created other stages in Italy and is also involved in the redevelopment of the former stables De Montel, not far from San Siro.
The Municipality wanted to close the agreement by July, but the judicial developments reopened everything. “For years we have reported the opacity of this operation, “concludes Corbani. «Now that justice has turned on the spotlight, it is clear that we were right».
