A few hours after co-hosting the Sanremo Festival, Irina Shayk met with journalists in the press conference of the third evening, telling his connection with Italian music and returning several times to a central theme for her: roots.

The Russian top model, who will join Carlo Conti on the Ariston stage, recalled the influence of her mother, a music teacher for many years: «My mom taught music for 25 years. As a child I played the piano and sang in a choir». A musical education that brought her closer to Italian songs early on: «My mother loved them Mina, Celentano, Anna Oxa. Italian music reaches straight to the heart and I am happy to be here in this historic festival which is part of Italy’s DNA.”
During the press conference Shayk also returned to the values that guide her personal and professional path. «In my career it was important not to forget my roots and be kind to others“, he said. And he added: «I had a happy life, my parents were together. In life I don’t think what we have is important, but the closeness of our loved ones. And that’s what I try to teach my daughter.”
Answering journalists’ questions, Shayk defined his presence in Sanremo as a moment of gratitude, because “music unites people”.
And when asked for a comment on the war in Ukraine, the model chose not to go into political details: «It’s true that many things are happening in the world, but I’m happy and grateful to be here to celebrate love, music and positive energy. So I don’t make any political comments».
