Cold calling and scam calls annoy all French people. Faced with the different methods that are not always effective to put an end to it, Caroline explains to us how she managed to no longer hear her phone ringing abusively.
Many French people experience unwanted calls on a daily basis, whether they come from telephone canvassers or people with bad intentions. These nuisance calls have the gift of causing weariness, frustration, irritation… In addition to wasting time, it is very difficult to put an end to them: personal data is constantly sold or hacked, so much so that the numbers are always found on the lists of the originators of these calls.
Even the most well-known technique, namely neither picking up nor hanging up to make it appear that the line is inactive, does not completely get rid of it. “I tried this method, and it’s true that the number of calls dropped drastically. But I still received one from time to time and, at the beginning of February, while I was waiting for a call from an organization that was not in my directory, I was fooled: I picked up thinking that it was this famous interlocutorbut he was a canvasser. As a result, the calls have started again, up to 5 per day!”explains Caroline, a reader. The young woman has started to no longer pick up calls, but this method also has disadvantages: “I no longer answered unless I had saved the number. The problem was that in addition to being disturbed by the ringing of my phone, I missed important calls, from my mutual insurance company, from the trustee of my building, and even professional calls”testifies Caroline.
Annoyed, she discussed this situation with friends, and that’s when they started talking about apps to block calls. Several of them favored the same one: WinCalls. Caroline installed it, and she is delighted: “Since then, I have no longer received any unwanted communications and I have not missed any important calls”. We in turn tested this Android application (iPhone owners can turn to other options like Saracroche and Begone), and we must say that it is pretty good.
WinCalls has the advantage of being completely modular: you can decide if you want to block hidden numbers, certain operators specifically, calls from certain countries whose codes are often used for this type of call, etc. We also appreciate the function which allows you to authorize calls from contacts only during a certain time slot, which can be very practical in certain situations (for example at night, or if you are a working parent and you don’t want to be disturbed but don’t want to risk missing a call from school, etc.). The service is completely free and does not collect users’ personal data, which will therefore not be resold. And that is rare enough to be underlined.
