Who can benefit from Social Association for Accommodation (ASH)?

Social assistance with accommodation is intended to take charge of the differential between the contribution of an elderly person or an aging disabled person and the cost of their accommodation in a specialized structure. It may be an EHPAD, a retirement home or a long -term care unit (USLD).

Conditions for the elderly to modest resources
Social assistance with accommodation (ASH) is intended for the elderly who can no longer live alone and with low resources. It is allocated under certain conditions:
- be over 65 (over 60 years for a recognized person unfit for work),
- Reside in France regularly (uninterrupted for more than 3 months) or have a valid residence permit,
- be hosted in an establishment with places reserved for beneficiaries of aid or at a family welcoming authorized by the Department,
- have resources lower than amount of accommodation fees.
Conditions for people with disabilities
To benefit from ASH for disabled people, the person must fulfill one of the following two conditions:
- Have an incapacity rate at least 80 % recognized before the age of 65.
- Have been welcomed in an establishment or accompanied by a service for adult disabled people before having been welcomed in an establishment for the elderly (for example in a non -medical reception establishment, a specialized reception center or a support service for social life).
This condition is not fulfilled if the person has worked in an ESAT (establishment and service for aid by work) or has been welcomed in an IME (medico-educational institute), without benefiting from the support of other establishments or services intended for disabled people.

How to fill out your ASH file for accommodation in nursing homes or a retirement home?
Withdraw the financial assistance request file from the CCAS or the town hall
Social assistance for accommodation allows in particular to cover all or part of the costs related to the accommodation of an elderly person in an establishment. For withdraw an ASH application fileyou must go to the town hall or the Communal Center for Social Action (CCAS) of the town where the elderly resides. It is advisable to make the request for ASH at the same time as the admission procedures in an establishment. The award decision is notified to the beneficiary or, if necessary, to its legal representative.

The file must be accompanied by the following supporting documents:
- Identity document
- Proof of address
- The list of food obliges of the elderly, according to what appears in the family booklet

How is the ASH’s amount calculated?
Income taken into account in the calculation
The services of the department fix the amount of the ASH according to the resources of the elderly, by integrating real estate. Are included in the calculation:
- the revenues of the elderly,

What is the minimum amount remaining in the elderly in 2025?
The elderly person benefiting from ASH must donate 90 % of their income (including housing allowance) to the establishment. It can have as it wishes of the remaining 10 %. Sign a reception contract
Family reception allows an elderly and/or disabled person, with remuneration, to be welcomed at the home of a family welcoming After signing a reception contract fixing all the conditions of accommodation. The request must be made within two months of signing the contract.
