While he has long been mysterious about his private life, singer Kendji Girac today lifts the veil on the couple he forms with his wife Soraya. And the lovers are on the same wavelength when it comes to the education of their children…
There are episodes that turn your entire life upside down. And at 29 years old, Kendji Girac can attest to this. Last April, the singer from Périgord made headlines after a terrible accident which almost cost him his life. Vianney’s great friend had in fact accidentally – according to him – shot himself in the chest after an argument with his long-time partner, Soraya.
Kendji Girac daddy hen? “I quickly worry when something is wrong”
After long months of rebuilding himself away from the spotlight, the singer returns to the front of the stage. On October 4, he released a new album, Live… Above all, he also revealed his very first book, an autobiography entitled Mi Vida. He returns to the personal incident that turned his life upside down. And addresses, without hiding, his family life with Soraya and their two children, Eva Alba, born in January 2021, and Darel, a little boy born last May.
As spotted by Purepeople in his book, fatherhood radically changed the season 3 winner of The Voice : “The day he was born (his eldest daughter, editor’s note)I burst into tears of joy. Holding her against me is beyond anything I have experienced in my life (…) The moment I see her, I understand that I will have to live up to this little being. The first few months, I spent hours in ecstasy in front of her. Everything upsets me, I quickly worry when something is wrong, I smile when she is well, my mood depends on hers.”
What education does Kendji Girac offer his children?
However, the man who will hit the road next January for a major tour celebrating his 10-year career is counting heavily on his loved ones for the education of his children. “My mother is never far away, that reassures me. In the gypsy community, sisters, aunts and mamas pass on advice and good manners. We take care of our children, but also of other people’s children”he writes in his book.
And for those who fight against illiteracy within several associations to detail their life choice: “We don’t surround ourselves with nannies, and Soraya doesn’t want to either. She’s an exemplary mother, she seems to understand everything her daughter feels. Little by little, I’m getting my bearings and I’m becoming a father hen, very close with my little one. Five years later, I still am! Now that Eva is in nursery school.”
