Summer may be very hot once again. Effective and inexpensive, this tip could change the situation to avoid overheating housing.
When temperatures climb, heat quickly settles inside the accommodation, especially in the southern or poorly insulated rooms. Same closed shutters, the windows let part of the solar radiation pass. In a few hours, the temperature can increase by several degrees. Fanters, air conditioning, thermal curtains … Classic solutions exist, but they are not always effective or economical. And in some cases, they arrive too late: the heat has already entered.
However, there is a simple solution, still unknown, which acts directly at the source. Its role is to block the infrared and ultraviolet rays of the sun, that is to say those which cause temperature rise inside. It therefore acts before the heat enters the room. The solar film for glazing is fine and flexible. It arises directly on the windows, inside or outside depending on the model. Some models can reject up to 90 % of solar energy. They make it possible to significantly reduce the interior temperature in summer, to limit the use of air conditioning, and therefore to save energy.
There are several types of films, according to needs and budget. Reflective films (mirror effect) are very effective, but modify the appearance of the window from the outside with a sometimes dazzling effect. The slightly tinted films offer a good compromise between performance and discretion. High -end selective films, more expensive, are practically invisible and let natural light pass while blocking heat. The prices vary depending on the quality: on average, count between 30 and 60 euros per square meter for a powerful product. The installation can be done yourself with a little care (cleaning the glass, installation with soapy water, marouflage), or by a professional for an optimal result.
However, this solution has a limit: in winter, the film also blocks solar radiation which could naturally warm the room. For this reason, it is advisable to choose a removable film (electrostatic or repositionable), easy to remove at the end of the hot season. This allows you to enjoy free solar intake in autumn and winter.
