The most beautiful to go dancing … and to go to parades. Thanks to this fashion piece, the Yéyé icon has built a chic and effortless style that today makes its whole identity. But if she loves it, there is one way to wear it that it deplores.
A true monument of song in France, Sylvie Vartan also excels in an area where we do not necessarily expect it: fashion. Fashionista and stylish icon since her young years, she made the trends of yesterday and the moment. And if the young generation is struggling to have the vision, three arguments will be enough to cut her whistle: 1) she co -wrote a book humbly named The Vartan style ; 2) She created a fashion brand in her name in the 1960s; 3) She was the subject of a fashion exhibition at the Galliera Palace… just that.
In this book published in 2015, David Hallyday’s mother distills enlightened style advice: her fashion fans, her eccentricities, her favorite pieces like those she hates … She reveals all her secrets. If there is a garment that she cannot do without, it is the “blue jeans” – or “jeans blue” in French. Like Yves Saint Laurent who dressed it, she even confides that she would have liked to have invented it:
“I would have liked to invent jeans: the most spectacular, most practical, most comfortable and nonchalant play. It has an expression, a modesty, a sex appeal, all that I have always desired in my creations”, report our colleagues from Audience. She has a disproportionate passion for him … So much so that she willingly sports it in total look, as in this famous TV appearance in 1971.
Once (de) measures, this love for jeans pushes her to wear it from every angle: she tried herself with the studded jeans, which she did with her own hands, please! She says: “In New York, we sold nails with all kinds of claws (…) We hung them using a pliers with rivets. I had bought one. I put nails on my denim jackets”. If yet another proof of its fashion relevance over time, here it is. Indeed, his two signature pieces constitute two trends that we saw everywhere last year … and that we have not finished seeing this year again, according to the Fashion Messies.
But beware, if she likes it to the point of carrying it in all possible and imaginable ways, there is one that she finds abominable. A detail that is hidden at the waist … because the low -waisted pants have until then, never found thanks to his eyes: “I hate that, it’s not being at all, vulgar limit”.
But after all, everyone has their own view. In absolute terms, vulgarity does not exist: all tastes are in nature and trends are done and break up to wear!
