There are over 300 athletes expected on Sunday 18 May at Palaknights of Legnano For the third edition of the Memorial Valerio SpinosaTaekwondo international tournament that combines sport and memory. The initiative, increasingly appreciated in the panorama of martial arts, recalls athletes from all over Italy and from different European countries every year.
The event pays homage to Valerio Spinosa, master of Taekwondo and guitar, a beloved figure in the Legnanese sports and musical community. Disappeared at only 41 years in 2022 after a long battle against cancer, Valerio has left a deep mark in his students and colleagues: despite the care and difficulties, he continued to teach until the last day, transmitting his strength and love for life. The two -day sports will see races of high -level shapes and combat, with the participation of numerous competitive teams, including that ofSD Olimpic Taekwondo Legnano, entitled precisely to Valerio and already winner of the first two editions of the Memorial. The Legnanese team also distinguished itself on national and international stages, conquering gold in 2024 at the Endas/Unitam championships and the International of Italy.
The most awaited moment will be the commemorative ceremony, scheduled Sunday 18 May at 12 noon. A tribute that, like every year, unites music, words and entertainment: among the guests announced the master of classic Taekwondo Valentino Solinasarriving from London for a special performance, together with other protagonists of the world of sport and music.
“This event,” he declares Vincenzo Spinosa, Brother of Valerio and organizer of the event, “was born to keep the memory and example that Valerio has left thousands of young students in over twenty years of teaching alive. Even in the last months of the disease he has chosen to live every day as an opportunity, showing that even the time that remains after a terrible diagnosis – or perhaps above all that – is an opportunity not to be waste, to be faced with responsibility and with gratitude. He never stopped believing in love for life and for the present moment, Which is all that we really have and that deserves to be respected as a gift, always ».
