It’s the last straight line. Taxpayers who reside in zone 1 – departments 01 (Ain) to 19 (Corrèze) – must declare their income online before Thursday May 23, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. If you chose the paper form, the deadline to comply is Tuesday May 21, 2024 at midnight. Residents of other departments have a few extra days. Very useful deadlines to complete your declaration as accurately as possible, because in the event of delay or error, you expose yourself to sanctions. Here are the ones.
Taxpayers who have not declared their income on time are exposed to a fine corresponding to 10% of their income tax, a penalty which can rise up to 40% if the declaration is not made on time. 30 days following the sending of a formal notice by the tax authorities. The 10% increase also applies if you have made an error in your declaration leading to a reduction in your tax or an increase in a tax advantage in your favor. Finally, note that, for an error such as a delay, you are exposed to late payment interest of 0.2% of the tax due per month of delay.

Free delivery, amending declaration: instructions for use
Fortunately, you have the option of avoiding your tax increase. If you have not declared your income before the deadline due to a factor beyond your control, you have the possibility of avoiding the fine by requesting a graceful remission from the tax authorities. Your request can therefore be sent to the tax center (SIP) of your place of residence. You also have the possibility to send your request online via secure messaging available in your particular space on the impot.gouv website.
Don’t panic either if you have made a mistake in your declaration. You have the possibility of making a corrective declaration in your particular space on the impot.gouv site in order to correct it. Please note that the service allowing you to correct the declaration online is not available on the Impots.gouv mobile application. If you chose the paper form, you must file a new tax return with your personal tax service to correct a possible error. Remember to specify the words: “RECTIFIED DECLARATION, CANCELED AND REPLACED”, on the first page of the form.
