Sneakers, ankle boots, pumps… Discover our best tips for putting together an inexpensive and trendy women’s shoe wardrobe without blowing your fashion budget.

The essentials of a shoe wardrobe at low prices

Building a complete shoe collection doesn’t have to mean investing hundreds of dollars. The trick? Focus on versatile pairs that go with everything, in all circumstances. Start with the basics: a pair of white sneakers (the absolute must-have that goes with absolutely everything), black ankle boots for fall-winter, flat sandals for summer, comfortable ballet flats for everyday wear and a pair of black pumps for dressier occasions.

These 5 pairs form the perfect basis for a functional shoe wardrobe. It’s better to focus on classic models than on hyper trendy pieces that will go out of fashion in two seconds: your wallet will thank you! A good pair of black Chelsea boots for 35 euros will last you several seasons, whereas very fashionable leopard print boots risk ending up in the closet after a few months. The secret of small budgets is knowing how to spot the classic cuts that cross fashions!

Inexpensive sneakers: the accessible fashion must-have

Sneakers have become THE pillar of any modern wardrobe, and good news: it’s also one of the categories where you can find the best quality-price ratio. For less than 40 euros, you can treat yourself to truly stylish models that have nothing to envy of the luxury versions.

The pair of white sneakers remains the number one investment to make. Timeless, it can be worn with jeans, a dress, a skirt or even a suit for a casual-chic look. Choose a model in white imitation leather rather than canvas: it looks neater and cleans better. Colorful or platform sneakers are also very accessible and allow you to add pep to your outfits without breaking the bank. At the moment, models inspired by the 90s are a hit and are easily found at low prices.

The trick to spotting a good deal? Check the sole (it must be well glued), the seams (neat and even) and test the comfort in store. A well-designed 30 euro sneaker will last as long as a 100 euro model if you take care of it!

Winter ankle boots: warmth and style without breaking the bank

Fall and winter are the seasons when you really need closed and comfortable shoes. Ankle boots represent an excellent compromise between style and comfort, and there are plenty of accessible models that have an impact.

Elastic Chelsea boots remain a safe bet: easy to put on, they go with everything and their clean cut makes them timeless. Count between 30 and 50 euros for a correct model. Military style lace-up boots are also very affordable and add a rock touch to your looks. For fans of femininity, ankle boots with a small heel (5-7 cm) are easily found at low prices and lengthen the silhouette without sacrificing comfort.

The secret to making your inexpensive ankle boots look amazing? Choose them in plain materials (black, brown, beige) rather than too shiny finishes or with flashy details that scream “low price”. A beautiful, simple ankle boot in matte faux leather will always look better than a model covered in rhinestones and studs.

Pumps and ballerinas: accessible elegance

We often think that dress shoes are necessarily expensive, but that’s not true! There are very pretty pumps and ballerinas at very reasonable prices.

For pumps, aim for classic models with a pointed or round toe, with a heel of 5 to 8 cm. In black, nude or navy, they will be useful for the office, weddings, evenings… In short, all the moments when you want to be elegant without going overboard. For less than 40 euros, you can find very decent models that will last for several years if you don’t wear them every day.

Ballerinas are the perfect compromise between comfort and femininity. Round or pointed, plain or two-tone Chanel style, they instantly dress up a casual outfit. The trick to keeping them from being “cheap”? Avoid versions that are too flat and soft which deform the foot, and favor those with a small structure and a minimally thick sole.

Our tips for finding the best deals

The art of buying the right shoes starts with the calendar. The January-February and June-July sales remain unmissable: this is where you will find the most spectacular reductions, sometimes up to -70% on previous collections. But other opportunities exist! The spring (March) and fall (September) markdowns are definitely worth the detour, as are the private online sales which come up regularly.

Some brands have also chosen to offer low prices all year round, with trendy collections and excellent value for money. For example, you can easily find inexpensive women’s shoes at La Halle.

To find good value for money, rely on these criteria: the sole must be well fixed (shake the shoe, it must not squeak), the seams must be regular, and above all, the shoe must be comfortable when you try it on. If it hurts you in the store, it will never really “fit” your foot! Also choose soft materials for ballet flats and sneakers, and at least thick soles to cushion your steps.

Maintain your shoes to keep them longer

Buying cheap women’s shoes is good. Making them last is even better! With a few simple steps, you will considerably extend the life of your shoes.

First reflex: waterproof your new shoes before even wearing them. A waterproofing spray (around 10 euros) protects materials from water and stains. Repeat the operation approximately every two months. For leather or imitation leather shoes, regularly wipe with a soft cloth with a little nourishing cream. Your white canvas sneakers are easy to clean with a brush, lukewarm water and Marseille soap.

Another tip: let your shoes breathe between two ports. Alternate your pairs so you don’t wear the same ones every day. And think about shoe trees (even cardboard) which maintain shape and absorb moisture. Low price does not mean disposable: with a minimum of care, your shoes will last you a long time!
