Having your child has a cost and, if some aids exist to support and financially support parents, they stop from 6 years old. But it will soon change!
It is not always easy for parents to keep their children. Crèche, childminder, home care or babysitter … Many childcare modes exist before entering kindergarten. Certain aids also make it possible to be taken care of by CAF, especially when hiring a third person to keep your child. The complement of free choice of childcare mode makes it possible to finance part of the expenses related to childcare. Moreover, a small revolution is preparing on the side of the CMG, several changes are expected in the coming months, and an important novelty has already been in force for a few days. According to the Directorate of Social Security (DSS) The reform of the complement mode of guard (CMG) “direct employment” must allow a more egalitarian CMG and aims to support individual reception.
The monthly basis for the calculation of family allowances (BMAF) is revalued on April 1, 2025 and increased to 474.37 euros (against 466.44 euros since April 1, 2024). And this will of course have an impact for CMG beneficiaries, the maximum amount of which (subject to means) is upgraded from 531.93 euros to 540.97 euros for children from 0 to 3 years old, and from 265.96 euros to 270.49 euros for children aged 3 to 6. Other new features will be implemented throughout the year: passing from a monthly CMG to an hourly CMG, income and number of children in the household now taken into account in the calculation, end of the drop in the amount of the CMG to the three years of the child.
But one of the most important novelties concerns single -parent families, a category of families particularly affected by precariousness and confronted with considerable daily challenges. Without a family nearby, without a coparer, childcare can quickly become a puzzle. And these difficulties do not stop at the 6 years of the child! Thus, from September 1, 2025, the complement of free food mode (CMG) will be extended up to 12 years of the child for single-parent families.
Also, in order to best accompany them and simplify their life, the resource ceiling for the benefit of the CMG is increased by 40% and the ceiling amounts of this service are increased by 30%. Changes of importance that will allow these isolated parents to better reconcile family life and professional life.
