Surprised by a violent thunderstorm, she then took refuge in the castle of a gentle glassman at the hamlet of Saint-Paul-la-Galline-Grasse. After spending the night there, the queen wanted to discover how he made the bottles. The glassmaker, somewhat disturbed by his presence, blew in the jaw of his cane and produced a huge bottle that made everyone admiration. He decided to launch the manufacturing and called these “Reine-Jeanne” bottles. But the sovereign, modest, suggested to simply give him the name of Lady-Jeanne. In order to protect this big bottle, like dressing a naked lady, the glassmaker covered her wicker. Pretty, right?

Another story, more earth-to-earth, talks about word “lady-Jeanne” which would come from the Persian city Damghan, known for its manufacture of glass objects. The word then reached Europe thanks to trade with the Turks (“Damacana”) and the Arabs (“Damagana”). From Occitan “Damajano”, the word then turns into “Damajana” into Catalan. In France, he appeared in the form of “Lady-Jane” at Corneille in 1694. Then in 1701, a humorous variant appeared: the “Lady-Jeanne“”Correlation daring between the female first name “Jeanne” and the plump shape of the bottle. Where can you find a inexpensive lady-Jeanne?

What is the price of a lady-Jeanne? The answer is as follows: Between 15 euros and 150 euros on Selency or between 5 euros and 115 euros on Leboncoin. The price of a lady-Jeanne will depend on its size, what surrounds it and its state.

With its candy shape, the lady-Jeanne can quickly take dust and crash from the inside. Whatever its dirt level, you will have to start by cleaning the outside, enough to have better visibility to polish it. Once this first step has been made, Rinse the interior with hot waterin order to take off everything that is hooked, renew the operation if necessary and empty the contents. Then several options are available to you: Pour lukewarm white vinegar with a little coarse salt and bicarbonate or washing machine salt dishes. If, after you have shaken your lady-Jeanne in a fairly energetic way, there are still residues, do this. Introduce a chain inside your Lady-Jeanne and turn it very slowly. Remove the chain and rinse with hot water, hop voila!
