Tired of struggling with your round gifts that end up wrapped like packets of chips? Thanks to this method, even the most complex shapes will have a result worthy of Christmas windows.
The holidays are approaching, and with them, the delicate mission of wrapping gifts. If you’re the type who shies away from irregular shapes or prays that everything fits into a box, you’re not alone. Round objects, in particular, have a way of turning a packing session into a nightmare. Too much paper, creases in all directions and a result that leaves something to be desired. Spotlight on the “Christmas cracker”-style packaging which could well save the day.
It was on TikTok that the user @mama_mila_ revealed the trick. Liked more than 5,300 times by Internet users, his video immediately won over even the most beginners in gift wrapping: a particularly welcome technique a few days before Christmas. His method requires 4 steps. The first is to measure the wrapping paper. Concretely, place your gift in the center of a piece of paper and check that it is large enough to completely surround it. The paper should cover the object and extend slightly over the sides. Once measured, tape the edges to hold everything in place. Then, carefully remove the paper to work on it flat. This is followed by the “fold, cut” step. To do this, fold the paper in half lengthwise to form a narrower strip. Then fold the two outer edges inwards, creating clean edges. Now, cut the corners from each end of the paper diagonally. This detail is essential so that the paper takes a beautiful shape once closed.
Then, form the “cracker”. Place your gift back in the center of the paper. The cuts made allow the paper to fit perfectly around the object. Close the sides by tying them with a pretty ribbon, which you will tighten slightly to create this “Christmas cracker” effect. This will immediately give an elegant and festive look. Finally, to perfect your packaging, choose a contrasting colored ribbon or add a decoration, such as a small fir branch, a bell or a personalized label. It’s these kinds of details that will make all the difference and make it look like you’ve spent hours on each package.
You will have understood, the “Christmas cracker” works perfectly for round objects, but this method can also be adapted to other irregular shapes. A soft toy, for example, will take on all its charm thanks to this technique. And for bottles of wine or longer gifts, the principle remains the same: simply adjust the width and length of the paper for an impeccable result.
