To maintain plump skin at 50, the founder of the cosmetics brand Tata Harper has a very precise and inexpensive anti-aging technique. We tell you everything.
A beautiful skin gesture that will become your new anti-aging essential. Over time, the epidermis changes and so do its needs. It becomes even more important to focus on nourishing and hydrating products, and to boost your collagen and elastin production. In short: pamper yourself. To a well-established skincare routine, we can then add small rituals which bring radiance to the face, make it deflate and tighten the features. During a visit to Paris to present her new product, Crème Suprême, Tata Harper, founder of the eponymous beauty brand, revealed the reflex that changes everything after 50 years. Zoom.
“You know, I turned 50 last summer“, begins the expert when asked what has changed in her beauty routine in recent years.”I’m focusing more on things I’ve never really done before.“So, there is a procedure to which she pays particular attention: lymphatic drainage. Twice a day, she takes a break to do her skin care and perform a massage.”This is essential for me, I make sure to activate all the lymphatic glands to be sure that each movement is effective afterwards“, she continues. Tata Harper massages her face, making sure to end with downward movements (especially at the base of the neck) in order to evacuate toxins towards the lymph nodes which act as an “exit door” for cellular waste. “Even for the eyes: we drain and we go back down.“But pay attention to one detail:”the touch should be very gentle“, she warns. In fact, the lymph circulates just under the surface of the skin. If you press too hard, you crush the lymphatic capillaries and the circulation is blocked. It is a firm caress, not a muscular massage. “I do this religiously, often with my hands or sometimes with a Gua Sha.“
It is true that in the short term, as well as in the long term, lymphatic drainage has many benefits. The first, well known to everyone? The elimination of toxins obviously. Massage helps evacuate cellular waste and excess fluids to the lymph nodes. But that’s not all: by stimulating circulation, we boost the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the skin cells. This reduces the “dull” or grayish appearance. We also observe less marked bags and dark circles, more defined and lifted facial features. He’s the king of anti-aging! It can also help calm redness and reduce skin inflammation.
Many benefits for a ritual that only takes a few minutes morning and evening. Tata Harper often recommends using a cleansing oil or balm so that the hands or Gua Sha glide smoothly, to avoid pulling on the tissue.
