The deputies are studying the Social Security financing bill for 2026. Among all the measures that have been prepared by the government, a certain number of them concern taxes. While there is some bad news, like the tuition tax cut, there is also some that is quite positive.
When completing your income tax return, you must provide all your different resources. This is also an opportunity to report certain expenses that qualify for a reduction or tax credit. From the use of personal services to rental investment… Many details allow you to benefit from these systems and, in fact, the government wants to develop one so that it is even more advantageous.
These are donations made to certain non-profit associations of general interest. For most of them, this entitles them to a 66% reduction in the donation amount. But for others, namely organisms “which provide free meals to people in difficulty, who contribute to promoting their housing or who, primarily, provide them with medical care, as well as for the benefit of organizations which, primarily and free of charge, support victims of domestic violence or contribute to promoting their rehousing”specifies the government on its site, the reduction is equal to 75% of the amount of payments.
This device, called “Coluche”, has a ceiling limited to 1000 euros. However, while associations observe a stagnation, or even a drop in donations, they are also facing an increase in their expenses, between the increase in prices and the number of their beneficiaries. To encourage the French to give, the government wants to double this ceiling and increase it to 2000 euros, which would allow them to benefit from a tax reduction of up to 1500 euros. Thus, a donation of 2000 euros to an association will only really cost us 500 euros.
If this measure is included in the 2026 draft budget, the executive suggests “to apply the measure from the presentation of the finance bill in Che council of ministers, so that this increase is effective for donations made at the end of the year 2025“. If the measure were to be ratified, we could therefore benefit from it this fiscal year.
