Is this the end of a paradox? For several years, the far right has experienced a spectacular rise in France and Germany, applying completely opposite political strategies. This similarity was broken in January.
Credited at the start of the year with 22% of voting intentions for the European elections, the Alternative für Deutschland (Alternative for Germany, AfD) party fell to 15%, penalized by the demonstrations this winter, the creation of an anti-immigration party on the left and accusations of remuneration of an elected official by Russia. In mid-April, the arrest of a parliamentary assistant for spying for China accentuated the crisis.
