At the funeral of Brigitte Bardot, one guest particularly attracted attention, despite himself: Nicolas-Jacques Charrier, the son of the deceased. He also made a moving gesture, which went a little unnoticed during the ceremony…

“Charrier family“, declared Nicolas-Jacques Charrier, son of Brigitte Bardot, upon arriving at his mother’s funeral at the Notre-Dame de l’Assomption church, in Saint-Tropez. According to BFMTV, the 65-year-old man had to present himself to be able to attend the ceremony, since no one knew what he looked like. The last time he had made a public appearance dates back to… his birth, in January 1960, when Brigitte Bardot was photographed after giving birth. During the funeral, the deceased’s son also made a tender gesture towards her…

Brigitte Bardot: the unnoticed gesture of her son Nicolas-Jacques Charrier

After carrying his late mother’s coffin, Nicolas-Jacques Charrier appeared very upset and let his tears flow during the ceremony, where he was seated next to Bernard d’Ormale, the husband of Brigitte Bardot. “He was supported by his wife and their daughters and granddaughters“, we read in Var-Morning.

He also made a gesture, unnoticed but nevertheless significant, by laying a magnificent wreath of flowers with mimosa, flowers which evoke the Cote d’Azur, so dear to the heart of the former actress. A word was slipped on a white banner: “To mom“. On the funeral announcement, the name of Nicolas-Jacques Charrier appears just below that of Bernard d’Ormale, according to Paris Match.

Brigitte Bardot: her tumultuous relationship with her son

Relations between Brigitte Bardot and her son have not always been good. The former actress did not want to be a mother and had a bad experience of her pregnancy, as well as her childbirth. “My pregnancy was a nightmare nine months. It was a bit like a tumor that had fed on me, that I had carried in my swollen flesh, only waiting for the blessed moment when they would finally get rid of it.“, she declared in her book Initials BB. Comments which pushed his son, Nicolas-Jacques Charrier, to file a complaint for invasion of privacy in 1996. At the time, the animal friend had to pay him damages.

But, thanks to her husband Bernard d’Ormale, who had acted as mediator, relations between mother and son ended up improving. Since then, Nicolas-Jacques Charrier has come at least once a year, from Norway, to visit him at Madrague with his children.
