The flea market season is open! Here is the dishes for sale or buy priority to do good deals.
You may have old plates, forgotten dishes or earthenware. Or, you like to hunt in flea markets and garage sales looking for good deals. In both cases, it is useful to know that certain old tableware brands can be worth a lot of money.
To get an idea of the value of a room, only one reflex: to return it because it is under the dishes that we often find a stamp or an inscription that will make the difference. Two words should draw your attention: “iron land”. It is not metal but a white and solid earthenware, made in France from the 19th century. She imitates porcelain, in cheaper and she is now much sought after. The brand of northern France Moulin des Loups & Hamage returns particularly in sales. It produced complete services, plates, dishes and bowls for more than a century. The patterns are often floral, geometric or decorated with country scenes. A beautiful room in good condition can be sold between 20 and 100 euros. Large soupters, rare dishes or complete series sometimes leave even more expensive.
Another name to remember: Villeroy & Boch. This well -known German brand is still active today but it is above all the old collections that attract collectors with fine dishes, precise patterns and quality manufacturing. Certain series like “Burgenland” or “Alt Luxembourg” can reach several hundred euros, especially if they are complete or in very good condition.
For sellers, it is a good opportunity to make a little money with everyday objects. For hunters, this is a good plan, because we can still find these pieces at low prices in flea markets, if we know what to look for. The most important thing is to look at the marks on the back, to identify the typical patterns, and to avoid too damaged parts (cracks, shards, visible repairs).
Before selling, compare prices on sites like Le Bon Coin, Ebay or Etsy. And if you buy, keep your eye: this dish at 2 euros at the bottom of a box can be worth much more than you think.
