A new pair of sneakers is already establishing itself as the smart fashion purchase for sunny days. First seen among designers, it is now invading H&M, Promod and Asos, and fits easily into an everyday wardrobe.
Shoe trends move quickly, but some are clearly taking the lead. In recent months, a specific model has been popping up everywhere, from fashion shows to the shelves of accessible brands. It’s popular because it’s a change from the chunky sneakers seen in recent years and because it really goes with everything. Sales follow, and brands multiply versions.
The line between dress shoes and casual shoes is becoming increasingly blurred, and this sneaker plays exactly on that terrain. It has neither the very marked sporty look of a running shoe, nor the strict side of a city shoe, which makes it easy to integrate into very different outfits. The big houses launched the idea with thin, sober models, often worn with long skirts, light dresses or tailored pants, far from purely streetwear looks.
As is often the case, mainstream brands quickly offered their own versions. H&M focuses on very clean lines that are easy to combine, Promod integrates it into more urban silhouettes, and Asos offers several colors. What really sets this sneaker apart are the design choices. The materials also contribute to this new direction, with smooth leathers and colorful suedes, sometimes slightly shiny. We are far from purely technical sneakers, designed for performance, here the priority is visual.
You will have understood that by replacing classic sneakers with this sharper model, a simple silhouette immediately appears more current. Brands have understood this advantage well and play on small variations around the same base, by modifying the contrasts, the stitching or the cutouts. If the first noticed version came from a very fashionable house, notably via the collaboration between Miu Miu and New Balance, the offer has now become widely available. In short, the sneaker that everyone is snapping up in 2026 can be recognized by its two pairs of different colored laces. One pair positioned on the lower part of the shoe and the other on the upper part.
This double lacing is now available at Puma, Steve Madden and Sometimes. A nod to our high school years and the time when we customized our pairs of Converse endlessly.
