Because it represents a certain cost, many parents give up sending their child to summer camp. However, recently, there has been very useful financial assistance for families.
As the school holidays approach, most parents have a common dilemma: how to keep the children busy? While some are lucky enough to be able to take time off at the same time as their children to look after them, this is not the case for all families. As a result, parents have no choice but to find a solution that could suit everyone. For some families, summer camps represent the ideal compromise, but very often, it is the budget that gets stuck. Fortunately, the ‘Colo Pass’ has recently become available for those who have limited means.
This new financial aid, implemented since April 15, 2024 by the government and paid by the Family Allowance Fund (CAF), aims to allow children to go to summer camp during the summer. According to the government, more than 600,000 families are eligible this year. But as with other financial aid, this is subject to certain conditions. Indeed, the Colo Pass is not intended for all families. Only households with modest incomes, who have a family quotient of less than or equal to 1,500 euros, are eligible. In the eyes of the CAF, this corresponds to around 4,000 euros per month of income, for a household with two dependent children.
The second condition to be met concerns the age of the child: he or she must be born in 2013 and be 10 or 11 years old this year. In summary, the Colo Pass is primarily reserved for children who enter middle school in September. Please also note that if the aid is not used during the child’s 11th birthday, “the pass can be carried over once, in the year you turn 12, under the same conditions”indicates the site service-public.fr.
How much does the Colo Pass cost?
The amount of the Colo Pass varies depending on the parents’ income. Count between 200 euros and 350 euros per child.
Family quotient | Colo Pass amount |
Between 1201 and 1500 euros | 200 euros |
Between 701 euros and 1200 euros | 250 euros |
Between 201 and 700 euros | 300 euros |
Less than or equal to 200 euros | 350 euros |
It is also important to know that the aid is not paid directly into the parents’ bank account. It is allocated according to the third-party payment principle, that is to say that it is the organizer of the colony, labeled “Pass colo”, who will deduct the amount of aid from the price of the stay. Families will only have to pay the balance remaining their responsibility. And as with other subsidies, this aid can be combined with other schemes, such as Colos learner aid, AVE aid from CAF, that of communities and company CSEs.
